Permission to Play
Making Time for Creativity
“You inspired me!!!!!!”
A bit startled, I opened the email—and then it dawned on me where I'd heard the sender's name before.
"We stopped by your booth a few weeks ago and ever since then I have been painting watercolors.
At the bottom was a photo.

Here's what's incredible.
I never told her to paint anything. I didn't even know she was interested in painting when her daughter bought her Wisteria Hall as a gift.
But the playfulness of my art gave her permission to play, too. She’s having fun letting her imagination go wild.
And that is why Signed Cricket exists. That is what art can stir up in you—the urge to create more beauty.
It might look like:
- a gallery wall of other people’s art
- a painting of your own
- a creation in a completely different medium, like knitting or photography or even cooking
This is your sign.
Being an adult often means putting creativity, hobbies, and self-care to the side. It's easy to forget them there for weeks and months at a time. But now it's time to make something beautiful, to explore one area that interests you.
Here are some ways I can help:
- ready-made originals, for that hypothetical gallery wall
- custom orders (be as involved in the creative process as you like)
- art workshops
- encouragement (sign up for biweekly emails here)
