Greeting Cards, Reimagined
Share
Back in the spring, I sent Signed Cricket email subscribers a poll to vote on some new greeting card designs that would be occasion-themed, with messages on the front like “Happy Birthday” and “Missing You.”
But something just didn't sit right.
After people voted, I sketched and painted the winning designs multiple times. They never turned out the way I pictured them in my head, and they didn't fit with the rest of the greeting card collection either.
As the summer got busy, I finally had to stop spinning in circles and put the whole project on pause.
That's when things got interesting.
Earlier in the year, a customer had told me she was going to frame her new cards as wall art, not mail them. (Apparently the 6 designs in the mushroom collection make a great gallery wall! 😮)
But at the first summer market after shelving the greeting card project, I overheard something similar.... then again at the next market.
After the 4th market in a row, that finally clinched it for me: we need more cards that can be framed, instead of being used once and thrown away.
Fast forward to now.
I’m proud to introduce two new frameable greeting cards, "Wildflower Mailbox” and “Pumpkin Trio.” You might recognize the mailbox from that email subscriber poll, and the pumpkins are here by popular request at October’s Clinch Antique Festival ☺️
Signed Cricket cards have always been mistaken for hand-painted.
They're printed on thick textured stationery that feels as close to watercolor paper as possible.
And now, they're about to get even more display-friendly by coming in standard picture frame sizes!
I’ll also be resizing some older favorites up to the standard size of 5” x 7” as they come in need of restocking—so be aware of that if you’ve bought any of these from me before!
2025 has us keeping a closer watch on where our dollars go.
At the same time, we need little bits of joy and color in our homes more than ever. And I hope these greeting cards doubling as mini art prints will be an accessible way for us to do that 💛
